About This Item
Philadelphia: Triangle Books / The Blakiston Company / Vanguard Press, 1931. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Very Good / Very Good; see scans and description. Philadelphia: Triangle Books / The Blakiston Company / Vanguard Press, 1931. First Edition, first printing (no later printings mentioned; see scan of copyright page). Small octavo, russet boards with black imprinting, illustrated jacket, 313 pp. Very Strong Very Good book - close to Near Fine (see scans), with just some age-toning at places within; no writing, no soil, hinges perfect. Jacket is About Very Good, due to one notable upper left chip, bending around to spine top, and several smaller peripheral din gs. See all scans. Strong, bright, tight condition, which is somewhat unusual for this inexpensively produced example of the classic American pulp fiction genre (subcategory: erotica). The young lady of focus in this tale is 'dazzlingly blonde' and possibly unfairly maligned in her community - except by her Uncle Ben, who...umm...encourages her to do what she feels. Yeah, okay, Unc. As the cover says: 'you'll have to admit she's good company'. Dust jacket flap blurb mentions 'free love', which has to be one of the earlier uses of the term. Author Clarke has dedicated the book 'To Gladys - Another Ex-Virgin'. Hmm. About as solid a copy as you're likely to find, for both the jacket and book. Ships in a new, sturdy, protective box - not a bag. L11n
