About This Item
Francestown: Typographeum, 1989. Limited private press edition. First edition. Hardcover. New copy. 8vo. Blue cloth. Printed label on back-strip (spare label tipped in). 52 pp. Checklist. 150 copies hand-set, printed letterpress and bound by R. T. Risk. Issued without a dust-jacket. James Hanley was born in Dublin in 1901. He left home at 13, went to sea, and enlisted as an underaged soldier in World War I. His novels about ordinary people were difficult and relentlessly honest. For that reason success eluded him in his lifetime.
