London: Hodder Brothers, 1894. Book. Very Good. Cloth. 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. First Edition. SCARCE as such. Preface dated September 1894, 1894 on title page, and neat PO gift inscription on FFEP dated Oct. 4, 1894. This copy is VG in green cloth with gilt design to front and gilt lettering to spine. 458 pp. plus 6 pp. advertising to the rear. Outside shows a few small bubbles in the covers, modest/moderate wear to spine ends, tips , and bottom edges with a touch of rubbing at joints.Frontispiece with tissue guard ( etched portrait by H. Manesse) plus numerous illustrations- facsimiles of sketches , etc. Other than the gift inscription, unmarked, crisp, and tight. Quite uncommon. .
