London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1943. First reprint (1st Hodder 1938). Red covers with black lettering, 349pp inc index plus map rear endpapers, with 181 b/w illustrations inc frontis. Red top edges. Covers have general light bumping and wear to extrems, more so to head and foot of lightly sunned spine, and a couple of light marks. Light foxing to dusty page edges and prelims. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, otherwise internally clean and tight. No DJ. Overall a decent copy. Ref:114796. Reprint. Cloth. G+/N/a. 14x20.5cm.
