Philadelphia: Henry C. Baird, 1853. Fourth American edition. An Asian romance published originally in 1817. Lalla Rookh is the daughter of the 18th century Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, her story unfolds in four narrative poems, connected by text. 1853 gift inscription on the ffep.
8vo, 3/4 brown leather and marbled boards, marble eps, tissue guarded steel engraved illustrations throughout by E. Corbould. Marbled edges and end papers. Half brown calf binding with different marbled paper, possibly rebound. Spine in six compartments, black title labels and small embossed decoration. Slt. rubbed at edges; internally clean, binding tight.
