About This Item
White Stone for the Lewis Carroll Society, 1997.. FIRST EDITION 1997, 8vo, red cloth gilt, 161 pages. A study, including a facsimile edition, of the catalogue of the auction sale following C.L. Dodgson's death in 1898, along with facsimiles of 3 subsequent booksellers' catalogues and a catalogue of a later auction - all offering books from his library. A fascinating record of all the books Carroll was known to have possessed. A new unread Fine copy, no inscriptions, issued without dustwrapper. Edition limited to 500 copies. Based on an earlier study by Stern, Lewis Carroll's Library (1981), this contains an extra auction catalogue, an introductory essay which gives some analysis of the contents of Carroll's library and most importantly an 'annotated, cross-referenced, author-identifying index' to the books Carroll owned.
