Pregiata edizione illustrata del 1738 della nota opera di letteratura classica "Historiarum ab urbe condita" dello storico romano Tito Livio edita a cura di Arnold Drakenborch (1684-1748).<BR>L'opera è in sette volumi ed è completa. All'interno anche narrazione del combattimento al Trasimeno, Eccidio di Capua, Battaglia al Ticino.<BR>Testo latino con riassunto e note in latino a cura di numerosi autori: Fulvio Orsini, Francois Modius (1556-1597), Lorenzo valla, Justus Lipsius, Sigmund Gelen (1497-1554), Johann Freinsheim, Jan Gebhard, Pieter Nanninck (1500-1557), Jacobus Gronovius (1645-1716), Henricus Giareanus (148-1563), Carlo Sigonio (1524-1584), Johannes Gronovius , Henri de Valois (1603-1676), Sanchez de las Brozas (1523-1600), Beatus Rhenanus (1485-1547), Janus Gruter (1560-1627), Karel Andreas Duker, Jacobus Perizonius (1651-1715), Tannegui Lefevre (1615-1672). Finissima antiporta illustrata incisa da Jacob Folkema (1692-1767) nel 1737 su disegno di Duborg. Sono presenti inoltre sei tavole finemente illustrate: ritratto di Drakenborch inciso da Jacobus Houbraken (1698-1780) su disegno di Jan Maurits Quinkhard, ritratto di Tito Livio inciso da Jan Caspar Philips, un'antica tavola incisa da Nicolaas van Frankedaal (1720-1791). Bellissima legatura in pelle coeva con numerose decorazioni in oro al dorso e piatti e stemma della città di Zwolle nei Paesi Bassi. Cette édition, pour laquelle léditeur a consulté cinquante manuscrits et cent treize textes imprimés, est, au jugement des savants, un chef-doeuvre dexactitude et dérudition; nous pouvons ajouter que le mérite de lexécution typographique égale celui du texte.
