A pair of copper engravings of the heavens. The first shows Three globes are floating in the sky, an active seaside scene across the bottom including boats, an old coastal village scene, etc. The globes show the Anteciens, the Perieciens and the Antipodes. These are two small to have been of use to a navigator, and were purely decorative. This is numbered plate 49 to the corner. Overall a very nice copy of this work.. This beautiful uncoloured aquatint is plate one of a series of four fox-hunting prints produced by S & I Fuller, at the Sporting Gallery, known as the "Leicestershire Covers." by Thomas Sutherland (1785-1838) after Henry Thomas Alken. Dated March 1824. aquatint is 111/2" x 30" the sheet is 16" x 34". NB. We also have Plate Four for sale. ALKEN, Henry (1785 - 1851) was from a family of sporting artists, signing his early work 'Ben Tally Ho'. A keen sportsman he gave an authentic feel to his hunting prints and pictures. He became widely known for his sporting prints and pictures as well as his watercolour hunting, coaching and shooting scenes.

Silver title to spine. 368 pages. 200 x 130 mm (7¾ x 5 inches). Elizabeth Robins was an American actor, playwright, novelist, and important suffragette. For a time Robins wrote under the name C. E. Raimond in an attempt to keep her acting and writing careers separate. Covers lightly rubbed, spine very slightly faded. Prelims are moderately foxed, page edges also. Otherwise a good copy.
