About This Item

Faber & Faber, London, 1957. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Fair. the dustjacket is missing the bottom inch of the spine section and has other rubbings and chippings to both top and bottom edges. Apart from the original bookseller's sticker on the bottom of the front paste down there is no damage to describe of the book. In this book which is illustrated with numerous photographs of the principal figures, the author draws together the multiple threads of a complicated story – sometimes tragic, sometimes wildly comic. There are full accounts of the 2 principal trials, with their wealth of eccentricity, of pathos, of villainy, of courage. – In his summing up the author brilliantly examines the many implications of the court case, and discusses, too, the part played by political scandals in the life of Latin people. – Paraphrasing the dustjacket blurb Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
