New York: Random House, 1937. Stated First Printing . Blue Cloth. Very Good/good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The story of a reformed bank robber. " We believe it is by far the most dramatic story Morley Callaghan has ever written." (front flap) 278 pp. Blue cloth covered boards have gilt text, red decorations front and spine. Book is cocked, extremities are scuffed, library stamp (Paramount Circulating Library) front pastedown - bottom edge-ffep-p.7, p.7 notwithstanding text block is clean and tight. Unclipped ($2.50) DJ is two-layered with significant missing material of the face layer, and is attached to book, flaps to pastedowns. Book is from the collection of Toronto author/poet and perennial host at Harbourfront literary events, Greg Gatenby. The date of his acquisition of the book and his signature are found top corner ffep. Morley Callaghan's 'uphill ' signature is on the half-title page. A rather unusual book!
