Image measures 9 1/2" x 11 1/2", presentation card repairs to margins and some foxing, otherwise in good condition.<br/> <br/> This remarkable scenic view depicts Mount Cook, or Aoraki, the highest mountain in New Zealand. <br> <br> Charles D. Barraud (1822-1897) was a chemist, pharmacist, and artist. After establishing his pharmaceutical business and gaining some success, he continued to pursue his interest in painting, traveling widely throughout the islands, documenting remote natural landscapes. He gained early recognition for his art, eventually became the founder and president of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.<br/> <br/>
