London: Alvin Redman, 1961. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. First UK Edition. INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR IN THE YEAR OF PUBLICATION. Publisher's black boards with gilt lettering to the spine. A near fine copy in a VG D/W with a couple of short closed tears with associated creasing to the bottom edge of the back panel. Inscribed by the Author on the title page: "Dear John/ Swan Song/ As thick as autumn leaves/ in/ the incubations fall on thee/ But soon my tales will all be told --/ When I am cold, when I am cold/ Ever/ Neil Bell/ Brixham,/ March 1961". Above the inscription the author has drawn the face of a singing boy (with a halo above) with musical notes - quavers etc - coming from his mouth. Photographs/scans available upon request.
