About This Item

Hodder & Stoughton, 1971. 1st edition. Hardcover. Fine black cloth with gilt spine lettering and facsimile signature on front board, very clean grey endpapers and equally clean pages. The dustjacket is very near fine, not price-clipped, with a fractionally lightened spine. A very nice copy of the author's sixth novel.

Synopsis

The Naïve and Sentimental Lover is John le Carré's first novel to avoid the subject of espionage. The novel has autobiographical elements, as it is based on the author's relationship with James and Susan Kennaway following the breakdown of le Carré's first marriage.
