The New Vision and Abstract of an Artist by Moholy-Nagy, László - [1967]

This is a reprint of artist László Moholy-Nagy's essay "The New Vision," originally published in Germany in 1928; and also includes his 1944 paper "Abstract of an Artist," penned by him in Chicago. Fourth revised 1949 edition of the 1947 reprint. Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) was an influential artist and photographer who taught at the Bauhaus in Germany before accepting an invitation in 1937 to found an industrial design school in Chicago. Modernist master architect and Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, contributes the preface and an obituary note, calling the book "the standard grammar of modern design."
A slim paperbound volume from the "Documents of Modern Art" series directed by Robert Motherwell. 96 pages with many B&W iillustrations, cover and typography by art director and graphic designer Paul Rand. Good+ condition, covers are tanned, spine has a tear at the top, rubbing and cracks beneath, price written in on upper right of rear cover. Interior pages are clean, binding is firm.
