Norman Percevel Rockwell (1894 – 1978) was an American painter and illustrator whose works have a broad popular appeal in the United States for their reflection of the country's culture. He is most famous for the cover illustrations of everyday life he created over nearly five decades for the "The Saturday Evening Post" magazine.

Arthur Leighton Guptill (1891 – 1956) who co-founded Watson-Guptill Publications and was co-editor of "American Artist" magazine was an architect, painter, art director, author, and teacher. He graduated from Pratt Institute in 1912 with a degree in architecture and then studied at MIT, after which he had a long career in design, freelance advertising, and advertising agency consultation. He wrote numerous art instruction books and taught at both Pratt and the Brooklyn Museum.
