Inscribed, and signed, by George Szirtes: "For Michael Curtis/ best wishes from George Szirtes 1983." George Szirtes was born in Budapest in 1948. His family emigrated to England as refugees after the uprising of 1956. His first book, *The Slant Door,* won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize for 1980. Poetry.
