About This Item

AMSTELODAMI : APUD GEORGIUM GALLET , 1698. In buone condizioni. Legatura in buone condizioni. In 8. 25x20,5 cm. Pp. (16)+387+(19).Beauitufl illustrated edition of 1698 of this Opera Posthuma by the italian physician and biologist Marcello Malpighi (1628-1694) establisher of microscopical anatomy, father of physiology, enbriology and isthology. Opera Posthuma contains perhaps the most explicit polemics, including extended reproductions of letters exchanged with his detractors, printed in parallel Latin and Italian. Opera Posthuma starts with a 100+ page autobiography, and also includes the first description of leontiasis ossea. Interesting part dedicated to teeth. At the end 19 folded plates of anatomical parts. At the beginning manuscript of two pages about the life of Malpighi. Signature dated 1792. Ex libris in the front counterplate. The work is in one volume and it is complete. In good conditions. Leather coeval cover with gilted title in the spine in good general conditions lightly worn in the extremities. Front hidge with light cracks. Binding in good conditions. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxing and yellowing. In 8. 25x20,5 cm. Pp. (16)+387+(19).
