A comprehensive work on atmospherics, weather, weather-related natural phenomena, and other observations on phenomena such as the aurora borealis. Folding table in volume 6, no illustrations. Full mottled French calf, dual spine labels in tan and natural calf, raised spine bands, gilt decorated compartments, edges speckled with red. Most likely the original, or at least contemporary, bindings. Expected edgewear and rubbing with additional light old insect damage to a few of the covers, mainly chipping, and some minute insect pinholes to the spines - none of the insect damage affects the interiors of the books. He published a series of "Memoirs of the Lowell Observatory" containing theoretical researches of his personal studies of a "Trans-Neptuneian Planet" and of the structure of "Saturn's Rings". In volume one he attributed certain irregularities to the action of an unseen planet beyond Neptune and calculated its probable position.
