Mauro in Francia, fondatore della paleografia latina, della scienza della Diplomatica, uno dei pionieri della moderna metodologia storica. In questa terza edizione presenti aggiunte di Giovanni Adimari Marchese di Bomba (1712-1792) L’opera è formata da due tomi con supplemento legati insieme ed è completa. Variante B (errore nella numerazione romana XCLXX nel secondo tomo). Il trattato è composto da sei libri sullo studio scientifico dei documenti medievali. Bellissima vignetta al frontespizio raffigurante veduta del Golfo di Napoli e del Vesuvio e numerose incisioni nel testo come testate, raffigurazioni, spilli, medaglie, monete, iscrizioni, monogrammi. Bella incisione a piena pagina di Zaballi.
