First UK edition, first impression, of one of Ibanez's costumbrismo novels, depicting the details of local everyday life, mannerisms, and customs in 19th-century Spain. This book is very uncommonly found with the dust jacket. Octavo. Original brown cloth, titles in black to spine and in blind to front board. With dust jacket. Ink ownership with "Bombay 1929" to front free endpaper. Faint soiling to boards, the binding otherwise firm and square, edges foxed, else internally clean and fresh. A very good copy in the very good jacket, light wear to corners without loss, light dust-soiling, clear tape repairs to spine ends verso, verso foxed, else notably birght.
