London, Putnam, 1926.. FIRST EDITION 1926, 8vo, grey cloth lettered navy, 219 pages. Beautiful tissue guarded coloured frontispiece by Rackham showing large blue bird flying out of apple or orange tree over mountains with fir trees. No other illustrations. 12 original fairy tales 3 of which had previously been published in magazines. A little faint discoloration to spine, edges foxed, endpapers faintly browned, no inscriptions. Very good plus (lacking dustwrapper). Marie Stopes (1880-1958) the famous Scottish scientist and pioneer of birth control, campaigner for women's rights, wrote several children's books.
