Francofurdi : Apud Andreae Wecheli heredes, Claudium Marnium & ioann. Aubrium,, 1590. Probably originally published as a hardcover the front and rear boards remain as well as a very small part of the spine. The front panel is missing all of the covering while the rear has retained all of its vellum (soiled) covering, the spine is tattered but what is left has retained the vellum and just a little bit of the title. The paper is soft and has accepted soiling and dampstains, there are a number on mainly closed tears on the margins. We have not rebound this book, but left is as found only making a case to hold it. This volume may have been published in Frankfurt under the same imprint as the original two volumes which were published in 1588 version and was probably intended as a third volume of this work. There is a publisher's device depicting Pegasus with initials AW on title the title page. There are additional woodcut decorations through the text - mainly as chapter/part headings. Images available. USPS confirmation used on all domestic shipments. This book weighs nearly 12 pounds so additional postage will be necessary for Priority or International addresses.. The work has long been attributed to Theodore de Bèze; in reality, under the Rabelaisian pun of the pseudonym Frangidelphe Escorche-messes is hidden the identity of Jean-Baptiste Trento, an Italian from Vicenza who converted to the Reformation in 1541 and took refuge in Geneva. He was received as a citizen of the city in 1559.

Castellesi fu grechista, ebraista, autore di poemetti, opere di stile, grammatiche e filosofico-teologiche. Espertissimo di affari, si arricchì enormemente destando in tal modo l'invidia di Cesare Borgia che tentò di avvelenarlo. Andato in esilio e ritornato in patria all'avvento di Leone X, dovette ritornarvi perchè accusato di aver preso parte alla congiura del Cardinale Petrucci. Da questo momento in poi non si sa più nulla di lui: sembra che sia stato assassinato a scopo di furto da uno dei suoi servitori.
