First Edition 1st printing of Buchan's Biography of Scott written and published to mark the centenary of his death. VG (No d/j) Book- Mild shelf wear and soiling to boards. A few mild to moderate foxing spots to prelims not extending beyond title page, tan to uncut page edges ,binding sound, a Book Society bookplate with fading ink name to front blank end paper. Synopsis
Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (15 August 1771 – 21 September 1832) was a prolific Scottish historical novelist and poet, popular throughout Europe during his time. Scott has been said to be particularly associated with Toryism, though several passages in Tales of a Grandfather display a liberal, progressive and Unionist outlook on Scotland's history.
