London: Hodder & Stoughton Ltd. One of the more collectible books of fairy tales w/21 beautiful tipped in color plates by Dulac & attractive greenish-gold decorations throughout. This copy is unique in that it was owned by Charles McBride, the Los Angeles painter/cartoonist (1901-1951) who created a cartoon character named "Napoleon" which was syndicated nationally. McBride wrote his name in slanted letters on the top left corner of the front end paper and pasted in a personal bookplate featuring one of his cartoons. This copy has light wear to the cover's extremities; it is a dark gold cloth cover w/ornate gilt stamping. 250 pages; signatures are a little loosened so that the pages lay flat when the book is opened.
