London: Colin Smythe Ltd, 1981. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. First edition first printing. Hardback book is tight clean and square. Boards sharp and clean. Spine ends lightly bumped, title gilt perfect. Text block clean, with toning to edges, more pronounced to the top edge which also has spotting. The pages are crisp and unblemished. Feels lightly read and very tight. Grades very good. Jacket is complete and tidy, with minor crimping edges, and pressure marking to the front panel. The rear white panel has some toning to edges. The spine is sunned, resulting in the loss of yellow to the spine titles. Overall grades very good. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. This book is fitted with a non adhesive archival quality book protector to make a worthy addition to your collection. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A very solid copy of this early Pratchett title.
Synopsis
For those who really need to know, Terry Pratchett was born in Buckinghamshire, England, in 1948. He has managed to avoid all the really interesting jobs authors take in order to look good in this kind of biography. In his search for a quiet life he got a job as a Press Officer with the Central Electricity Generating Board after Three Mile Island, which shows his unerring sense of timing. Now a full-time writer, he lives in Somerset with his wife and daughter. He likes people to buy him banana daiquiris (he knows people don’t read author biographies, but feels this might be worth a try).
