About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1951. 8vo size hardcover with dust jacket; 238 tanned deckle edged pages. From jacket flap taped to rep: "This is a completely delightful collection of Irish stories - warm, witty, and wonderful. They combine a cheerful irreverence (which is never blasphemy) and a gay* approach to sex (which is never obscenity) with sparkling humor and tolerant sympathy for the foibles of numerous all-too human Gaelic saints and sinners." *reader please note that word had a different meaning in 1951 A Reading Copy: Ex-library with typical treatments; jacket has been laminated, lamination film has wrinkled. Spine cocked, both hinges cracked, but book is firmly bound; fingermark on blank rear endpage. It appears that the jacket flaps were cut off when the jacket was laminated, one is taped to the rep and has tanned tape marks. . Cloth. Reading Copy/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
