Sentimentalized view of the antebellum south, involving the plantation adventures of two young white boys during the Civil War, surely inspired by the author's own childhood during the War. Akin to, but evidently not part of, the Scribner's Illustrated Classics series. Hardcover, full black cloth, gilt titling, color inset on front cover. Shows some wear, spine rubbed & faded, corners lightly bumped; rear inner hinge mended. Text clean; viii, [191] pages; color frontispiece, over 35 line & b/w illustrations - there are more present than called for in the list. . Later Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by John W. Thomason, Jr.. 7" by 9".
