About This Item

Freeport NY, Books for Libraries Press, 1970 hardcover, viii-198 pp, re-issue of the 1875 original, Very Good condition in original glassine dustjacket. Straight, tight and clean with no markings, light foxing, tiny worn area at heel of spine, one page folded and mis-trimmed with no loss of text. A reprint of the 1875 original text intended to throw doubt upon the voyages and discoveries of Giovanni da Verrazzano (1485–1528) during his explorations of the American coastline in the late 16th century in the service of the King of France. These voyages and discoveries are generally accepted to be true accounts today. Illustrated with a few small drawings and four fold-out, and very detailed reproductions of Verrazzano's maps.
