About This Item
This is an imaginative and unsentimental chronicle of a bus traveling California's back roads. Steinbeck dedicated this novel to Gwyndolyn Conger, his second (soon-to-be-ex) wife. The novel's epigraph is a passage from Everyman, with its archaic English intact; the quotation refers to the transitory nature of humanity. Although considered one of Steinbeck's weaker novels at the time of its original publication, The Wayward Bus was financially more successful than any of his previous works.
First printing of the first edition.
Brown/Red cloth boards with publisher's bus design imprinted on the front cover.
Bright gold lettering on the front cover and spine.
No dust jacket.
The cover is perfect, there are a couple of faint tiny scratches on the back cover.
On the spine, you can see faint black marks. I'm not sure what these are, but I just removed one of them by running an eraser over it, so they will come off.
Inside, it is pristine and unread. The spine is unbroken and there are no marks of any kind.
