Berlin: In der Friedrich Nicolaischen Buchhandlung, 1816. Loosely translated the title in english is - "Guide for foreigners and local people from the royal. Residenz Berlin, Potsdam and the surrounding area, containing a short message from all located there oddities. In a far continued exodus of the great description of Berlin and Potsdam. In addition to a ground plan of the city of Berlin." Good condition hardcover book. The boards are calf. Has a bookplate inside the front cover from a seminary and a Dewey Decimal number lable on the spine. . The book has numerous black and white wood cuts and engravings including a frontis engraving. There is a large pull out map of Berlin at the back of the book. The map is complete and is in very good condition - I repaired a small tear with archival thermoplastic "tape" . The book also has a name written inside the rear cover and a library check out label attached to the rear end sheet , but the book shows no other evidence of having been a library book. The leather is chipped along the spine, the title label still attached and the title is visible. The edges of the book are rubbed. The boards are still attached but the front board shows wear along the spine. This is an uncommon title. Worldcat lists no institutional holdings in the US and the closest copy is in Denmark. The book pages are lightly age toned. . Full-Leather. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.
