About This Item

New York: G P Putnam's Sons, 1946. Hardcover. Near Fine. [vi] pp244 A biography of President Franklin D Roosevelt by his doctor, confidant and friend Ross T McIntire who was Surgeon General of the Navy. Near fine in blue cloth, in a very good dust jacket, rubbed to edges and a tiny hole to lower panel. Laid in: a letter [1tls] from the author to Frederick Adams thanking him for a Christmas gift. This book comes from the Franklin Delano Roosevelt collection of Frederick Baldwin Adams Jr, 1910 - 2001, the son of Ellen Walters Delano who was a first cousin to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Adams became a passionate bibliophile who served as director of the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York City for two decades and compiled a significant personal collection relating to F.D.R.. In 1969 he married his third wife who was a Swedish princess and with whom he shared the final years of his life in France. Adams' move to France explains the presence of his books in the United Kingdom. Near Fine 1946
