About This Item
Berlin, 1917. unbound. very good(+). Exceedingly rare Feldpost card "Lise Meitner", 3.5" x 5", Berlin Lichterfelde, Ziethen Str. 15, May 23rd 1917, in German (translated), to Lieutenant Otto Hahn, Inspectorate of Gas Regiments, Great Headquarters, German Feldpost #344, in full: "Thank you very much for your letter, which I plan to answer more detail in the coming days. Of course it would be even better if you could come personally. So far the results are not so clear that they can be easily discussed in writing. The lye residue arrived yesterday. After lengthy deliberation regarding Privy Councilor Pl., I have gained conviction that if you were to write a few cordial, non-official lines they would find the same reception. Since Pl. himself didn't send out notices I believe an official letter of condolence would not be in order. This is my opinion, the decision lies with you." In very good condition.

Austrian-Swedish physicist who worked with Otto Hahn and Otto Robert Frisch in discovering that nuclear fission of uranium took place when it absorbed an extra neutron. Surprisingly, only Hahn was awarded the Nobel Prize for their discovery.
