About This Item

Seattle: Frank McCaffrey at his Dogwood Press, 1931. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. Small 8vo. Pp. 47. Two essays by Smith, one concerning John Knox ("Saint or Sinner"); the other concerning Oliver Cromwell ("His Place in History"). Quarter brown morocco, with gilt lettering, over gray paper-covered boards, presented here in top-notch condition. Both essays were given as addresses to the Monday Club, which continues to thrive today, meeting monthly at Seattle's Rainier Club. Smith was the minister at Seattle's Pilgrim Church. An elegant production, this book is one of McCaffrey's more restrained efforts.
