About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Ruth Dudley Edwards: An author of histories, biographies and satirical mysteries. Her satirical mysteries were all in the Robert Amiss series (as in something's amiss?). So far, Edwards has kept a balanced life, having written a dozen novels and a dozen nonfiction works. This is the sixth Robert Amiss novel.

Katherine Hall Page: Page is best known for her 25 volume Faith Fairchild Mysteries. In the 1990s she also put our a four novel series called Christie and Company. In addition she has written one stand alone novel, published one collection of short stories and released a cookbook featuring recipes from her Fairchild series. This is the seventh Fairchild Mystery, also published as The Body in the Marsh.

Winona Sullivan: Sullivan started out as a CIA analyst, then moved on to teaching and writing. As well as writing novels and short stories, Sullivan was a poet, teacher, professor and mother of seven kids. Her four mystery novels make up the Sister Cecile Mysteries. Sullivan's writing career was cut short when she died in 2004 at the relatively young age of 61. Dead South is the second Sister Cecile Mystery.
