Memorial of Society of the District of Columbia for the Colonization and Civilization of Africa here joining with the national American Colonization Society to promote a commercial agency in Liberia in support of the "repatriation" of Black Americans held in slavery. The Memorial includes the text of the eight-article "Constitution of the Society of the District of Columbia for the Colonization and Civilization of Africa" and a list of its officers including Hon. Charles B. Penrose as president and Rev. James Laurie, D.D. as one of the vice presidents.
