The story about Sabu, a Japanese boy, was written by Japanese children's book writer Tomiko Inui (1924-2002), who winning a lot of prizes including the Mainishi Publishing Culture Award and the Akaitori Award for Children's Literature. She visited the USSR in 1963 and was runner-up for the Hans Christian Andersen prize in the following year.
Illustrations were created by the graphic and poster artist Mariya Uspenskaya (1925-2007). She studied at the Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute under Mikhail Cheremnykh and later worked in the most popular Soviet children's magazine Murzilka.
OCLC locates one copy of this edition only: in the Swiss Institute for Children's and Youth Media (SIKJM). We couldn't trace any copy of this edition in USA libraries via OCLC.
