About This Item

Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1974. First printing. Hardcover. Very Good/good. Small quarto, cloth in dust jacket, book very good, jacket good with some shelfwear and light chipping. Inscribed on half title by a Chester C. Davis to Eurreal Wilford "Little Brother" Montgomery (a jazz, boogie-woogie and blues pianist; April 18, 1906 - September 6, 1985), and with bookplate of Jan Montgomery on flyleaf. Montgomery is mentioned four times in the text: he was part of a combo with Collins in Chicago in the late 1930s and again in 1947. Excellent association copy.
