Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1872. First Edition. 12 mo. 7-3/8" x 5-1/8. Three quarter tooled brown leather with marbled paper boards and endpapers. Top edge gilt. Small red leather heart motif used on front cover and spine. This may be a unique binding, signed on inside of front cover GAZ (?). Tipped in the back is the original cloth binding, complete, the front cover, back and spine. It doesn't look like a salesman's sample copy. Previous owner's names and inscriptions on prelims. Overall a very good to fine copy.. Illustrated by Augustus Hoppin.
