New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1869. Small 4to. 7-1/8" x 9-3/4." 463 pp. All edges gilt. Specially bound in blue leather binding with green leather medallion stamped in gold, signed H. Bühler, Froschaugasse 20, 8001 Zurich. Engraved title page. Tipped in frontispiece is a real sepia-tone photograph of David Farragut with his signature on the mounting paper underneath the photo. A few faint finger smudges and a touch of light foxing on engraved title page. Former owner's name on front fly-leaf. Fly-leaf also has small tape repair. Otherwise a fine copy of a scarce item.. With thirty-nine illustrations in addition to the frontispiece..
