New York: Privately Issued, 1880. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. 16mo. Pp. 98. Blue cloth, titles and decorations stamped in gilt and black on the cover, brown endpapers. Author signature facsimiles. Spine darkened, edges soiled and bumped, spine ends chipped. Printed for Private Circulation and Presented with Compliments. The "enthusiastic American" author, wife and sister depart New York on July 17, 1880 and return in December. From the Introduction: "These notes were mainly taken before the thought of putting them into print occurred to me, and I only do it now, because, in my estimation, Europe has been sadly over-painted.
