This is probably the most famous and important Medieval illuminated manuscript--the original dates to about 1410. All 131 illustrations in the original are included here along with brief descriptions of each scene; in addition, there are expanded illustrations of details from many of the miniatures (303 illustrations, 285 in color). There are brief essays at the end of the book about Jen de Berry and the manuscript. Abrams published a full facsimilie of the original in 1984 that sold for $8,000. This edition allows everyone to have access to a high quality edition of this spectacular book. Foreword By Umberto Eco. Original publisher's dark blue cloth binding with gilt spine lettering. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. Dust jacket in similarly nice condition with no chips, tears, or markings. The dust jacket is now in a protective, removable, acetate cover.
