Washington, D. C.: Chronicle Book and Job Print, 1866. Softcover. Small Octavo, 96 pages. In Good minus condition. Rebound in tan paper wraps with original front cover attached. Covers have top corner of front cover chipped off, bending to corners, light creasing to spine, and light edge wear. Original front cover has significant portions missing from edges. Textblock has heavy age toning and foxing to first page, mild foxing to pages, first two pages partially torn at binding, and marking and underlining in pencil on many pages. Signed by author on first page. Shelved Room A, 16 General Ephemera Box. Christian Hines [1781-1874] was a Washington D.C. soldier and businessman. He served in the War of 1812 and ran several businesses in Washington D. C., including a grocery store and a silkworm farm in what is now the Kalorama neighborhood. He is best known for "Early Recollections of Washington City" 1378170. Special Collections.
