Boston: D. Lothrop, 1886. Hardcover. Good. frontis, 179p. plus (12)p. publisher's advertisements. Original brown cloth. 18cm. Spine sloped. Gift inscription. Signature almost entirely detached. Account of experiences by this American missionary who was apparently born in Eastport, Maine and whose husband organized the first Baptist church in Tokyo during his service in Japan (1873-1877). Slip laid in with former owner's speculation about the identity of "Jennie" and "Fannie" from the gift inscription.
