About This Item

London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, and Rivington (1885). Small folio. 27 x 37 cm. Original gilt embossed green cloth, aeg. Spine repaired with new black endpapers. Fine. Original ownership inscription of Annie B. Gallagher, purchased in Honolulu in 1892 for $11.00. Subsequently given to a convent in Oakland, CA in 1916. Forbes states that this work was an early example of a perfect binding and as such copies tend to be found loose in their bindings with damage to the plates and leaves, which makes this copy very rare and desirable. OCLC Number: 964603565. Forbes 3736; Nissen 1848; Great Flower Books p. 76. NB - Scan only shows part of the cover.
