Lincoln: Published by the Nebraska State Historical Society, 1929., 1929. First edition. First edition. 8vo. Inked presentation inscription from the grand daughter of the author. Red cloth, gold gilt stamped decoration on the front cover and titles stamped in gold gilt on the spine, [3], 176 [1] pp., introduction, frontispiece, illustrated, plates, portraits, map, index. Abbott served with the 9th Illinois Cavalry during the Civil War and 76 pp. of this book deal with the Civil War. He crossed the plains in 1867, and started a law practice in Grand Island, Nebraska. He met Susan B. Anthony and became involved with the struggle for women's rights in Nebraska, He provides interesting commentary on plagues of grasshoppers and other interesting experiences. A fine copy of an interesting book.
