Description:
London and Glasgow: Collins' Clear-Type Press, 1928. Very good plus.. First edition of this large-format story of a white Scotty dog puppy who gets into all sorts of trouble on a farm. Cecil Aldin loved dogs both as a topic for illustration and a career, caring for hunting dogs as an official Master of Fox Hounds. The illustrations in PUPPY-DOG FROLICS were originally used in the smaller-format GYP'S HOUR OF BLISS, but they have here been re-colored and re-captioned. This is an unusual title in Aldin's canine oeuvre. 13'' x 9.5''. Original cloth-backed red, white, and black pictorial boards. 16 full-page color illustrations with red borders and two black-and-white line drawings. [18] pages. Gift inscription to front flyleaf, dated May 28th 1929. Boards with light edgewear, bumping to corners and spine ends; some soil to edges of rear board. Subtle strengthening hinges and leaves at gutters. A couple tiny areas of soil to margins. Colors bright.
