Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1936. xiii, 203 pages.  Octavo.  First printing of the first edition.  Alford was born in 1860, the great grandson of Tecumseh, the famous Shawnee Indian.  Alford learned white culture, attended Hampton Institute in Virginia, and became a leader and educator when he returned to his tribe.  This is his story as related to Frances Drake, in his own words.  The book is in very good condition: clean and tight.  The dust jacket is in good+ condtion: some edgewear; chipped at corners and especially top of spine; some small creases and tears at edges; light soiling and a couple of small waterstains at bottom of rear panel.  The dj still is attractive in archival mylar..
