The story of a horse and a dog, featuring absolutely beautiful color lithographs by Rojankovsky, printed by the Domino Press - which sought the highest quality illustrations to pair with the text for their children's books like its famous first book, DANIEL BOONE (illustrated by Rojankovsky). Averill's letter refers to a book from her career after she returned from Paris, when she became famous for her books on cat subjects. Dated March 31, 1970, it reads: "Dear Helen Fay: Because of the postal strike and attendant delays and confusions, I am writing to let you know that I finally received your letter of 3/17 and yesterday I was able to get the 3 foreign editions of the Fire Cat to the post office, where they are being sent to the Florida School indicated on your postal label.
