Slight cracking to gutters causing binding to be loose, however pages remain attached. Pages and illustrations have light tanning and foxing throughout. Pencil inscription to front pastedown. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends. Wear marks overall.

Cloth, VG. xii+468pp, b/w frontis, 15 b/w plates as called for, 2 woodcut vignettes,slight damage to one leaf resulting in a tear just affecting the text ( seems to be a binding error ), otherwise a bright, nice copy. Barham's extremely popular collection of Ghost stories & mock medieval tales, nicely illustrated by John Leech, George Cruikshank, and Sir John Tenniel.

The Ingoldsby Legends is a collection of myths, legends, ghost stories and poetry written supposedly by Thomas Ingoldsby of Tappington Manor, actually a pen-name of an English clergyman named Richard Harris Barham.
