John Murray, 1847. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1847. No Edition Remarks. 515 pages. Half bound brown leather with marbled paper covered boards. Gilt tooling to spine. Black and white illustrated frontispiece. Marbled endpapers, text block edges. Slightly water stained frontispiece. Heavy cracking to hinges causing boards to be loose. Frontispiece partially detached. Pages have moderate tanning and foxing throughout. Foxing and tanning more intense to endpapers, frontis, titles and pastedowns. Pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper and pastedown. Slight gutter cracking. Boards have heavy shelf-wear with bumping and peeling to corners with slightly exposed board, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Light tanning to spine and edges with tears to leather to spine edges. Chipping to leather to edges. Wear marks overall. Heavy splits to front joint, less so to rear.
